Brief report on each races we've done
Raid the North: Bark Lake Ontario, 4th to 5th of May
2002
That was our very first adventure race: We took the
start not knowing what to expect. We had trained all
winter for that moment and we were very nervous… So
nervous that we lost 1h30 in our way to the first
checkpoint. The lead teams had done that leg in 50
minutes. This was the opening of a pretty disastrous
first night, multiple navigational errors, and stops of
all sorts. It's only at the beginning of the second
night that we started to get things going. From the 27th
place at CP1 we manage to make a comeback to a 2sd place
finish. Wow! A second place finishing at our very first
experience in such an event, we were excited and looking
forward to the next race!
Raid the North: Mont-Tremblant, 1 - 2 of June 2002
We arrived at Tremblant with a lot of confidence. We
wanted nothing less then a first place finish. However
the field was much stronger then the one we had seen at
Bark Lake 3 weeks before. The best teams were there
namely Continuum, Star Choice, Advair and TNT. We took
the lead early in the race somewhere between CP1 and
CP2... Great did we think!! Unfortunately, we made a
navigational mistake and lost the lead to team
Continuum. We were very disappointed but we didn't give
up. We thought that we could regain the lead when we
arrived at CP 12 at the same time the lead team was
leaving. It meant that we were only 30 minutes behind.
With still a long way to go, everything was possible. We
decided to do the advanced section which meant that we
were assured a second place finish (only two teams
managed to do that section) unfortunately, the advance
section was closing a two o'clock in the morning and
because of some misunderstanding between us and the
organizers we entered the advance section at 2h05... The
section was closed. The result? We ended up doing an
extra loop of 5 hours which didn't count. When we got
back to the regular course we were in 5th place. What a
deception it was!
Even though we finished in 7th place there were some
consolation prizes for us. We ended up having the
fastest time on the canoe section, and the fastest
trekking. The race was still a positive experience for
us and also for the image of our sponsors.
Raid the North: Bay de Fundy, 20 - 21 of July 2002
An extraordinary race! Sea kayaking in one meter high
waves, trails that followed incredible cliffs... The
course was great! On top of that, we had a great result.
We started the race in first place and manage to keep
the lead all the way to the end getting our first win of
the season. Oh yeah! We also had the fastest time in the
trekking section.
Raid the North Championship: Elliot Lake, 20 to 23 of
September 2002
The highlight of our season was, without a doubt, the
Raid the North Championship. That race in fact the
"Grande finale" of the season and all the best team were
there hoping to claim that the are the best. That's were
we though we could confirm that the results we have had
all summer long were not fluke. We started the race with
a whole bunch of ambitions. We manage to finish in 3td
place and getting the price for the fastest canoe
section. An excellent performance!
Raid Pulse: Arundel, 25 of August 2002
Arundel is a little village in the Laurentians near
Mont-Tremblant. We participated in a little Adventure
Raid called Raid Pulse. There were 25 teams. The course
designer add us run in trail and river, he add us canoe
and mountain bike allover the area. The expected winning
time was 5 hours. We did it in 4! The organizer was a
bit disappointed "You have burned my course" did he say
to us. The second team arrived 1 hour later... In five
hour just like expected.
